Partial healing effects of St. John’s wort oil on the rat excisional wound model

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objective: St. John’s wort (SJW) oil (Hypericum perforatum) has been used for its immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects. Several studies have shown the efficacy of SJW on wound healing. The aim this study is to assess effectiveness using a combination biochemical, histopathological laser Doppler evaluations. Materials Methods: Sixteen young Wistar albino rats were as case control groups (having 8 in each group). After anesthesia protocol, 6 mm punch biopsy was taken from six separate sites rats’ dorsal skin. Three wounds stitched (closed wounds); three left they (open wounds). administered topically group once day 14 days. Controls did not receive any treatment. Results: There no statistical difference blood perfusion between groups. No present GPx (glutathione peroxidase)values. Rat MDA (malonyldialdehyde) values higher compared group. found be beneficial effective within some histological parameters. Conclusion: may an salve Nevertheless, judgment uncertain due low sample size. We encourage further promising natural medicine.

A Study on the Effects of Modulation of Intracellular Calcium on Excisional Wound Healing in Rabbit

An in vitro study on the role of intracellular calcium ions in healing of excisional wound in rabbit was undertaken. We employed two drugs namely, glibenclamide and nitroglycerin that are topically applied in vivo to modulate the activity of intracellular calcium. Our model consisted of a 15 ´ 15 mm excisional wound. Seven groups of New Zealand rabbits were used. The first three groups served a...

The Effects of Topical Sildenafil on Wound Healing in Rat

Nitric oxide (NO) is an important molecule synthesized during wound repair. Studies have reported the use of NO donors on cutaneous wound repair, but their effects in different phases of healing are not elucidated. The aim of this work was to investigate the effects of topical sildenafil on wounds in rats. Sildenafil (25 mg) was topically applied once daily on wound in treatment groups. On...

The Effects of Pentoxifylline on the Wound Healing Process in a Rat Experimental Pressure Sore Model

Introduction: The present study used a histological evaluation method to examine the effects of pentoxifylline (PTX) on healing an experimentally-induced pressure sore in a rat model. Materials and Methods: There were 36 adult male rats used in this study. Under general anesthesia and sterile conditions, we used forceps to create one pressure sore on each rat. A double layer of folded skin...
